“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin Competitive Enterprise Institute
"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever. But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with." --Ronald Reagan “Give me four
years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be
uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) |
I think that modern liberalism is so attractive to people because it is an emotionally satisfying belief system that really doesn’t require much from you. Modern liberalism allows you to outsource your responsibilities. The government will take care of the less fortunate. All you need to do is vote for the right candidate and support government programs. Other than that, you are off the hook. – Peter Schweitzer
A Few Notes By Theresa Camoriano 1. Good Samaritan or thief? -- Louisville’s Archbishop Kurtz recently wrote a letter in the Louisville newspaper urging us all to contact our elected officials to promote more U.S. government aid to foreign countries. It seems he mistakenly read the story of the Good Samaritan to teach us that we should help people in need by reaching into our neighbors’ pockets! But I thought the Samaritan used his own money to help the injured traveler. I guess I’ll have to re-read that story. Maybe the Archbishop should re-read it too. (click to read more)
[T]he media have managed to create the impression that it is military service overseas which is the cause of suicides among American troops, when civilians of the same ages and other demographic characteristics are committing suicide at an even higher rate at home. – Thomas Sowell
It doesn’t take an alchemist to turn angst to anger By Jim Waters Most clear-thinking Kentuckians know that significant changes must occur to keep Kentucky’s $26-billion pension crisis from bankrupting the state. So, why won’t anyone fix the problem? (click to read more)
When Gore started his Global Warming campaign in the early 1990s, a contemporary Gallup poll of scientists showed that only 18 percent thought there was any evidence to support Gore’s theory. Even a survey conducted by Greenpeace found only 13 percent of climatologists willing to declare Global Warming “probable.” Nevertheless, Gore repeatedly claimed that (literally) 98 percent of scientists agreed with him, and he exhorted reporters to ignore skeptics. – Dr. Mark W. Hendrickson
Inflation By Danny G. Goe “Invest in inflation; I hear it is going up.” America is running on empty. Empty wallets, gas tanks, and food pantries. Businesses are laying off workers. Mortgage lenders are trying to recover losses. (click to read more)
Whether one is for or against the "global warming" crusade or for or against Democrats or Republicans in the White House, the truth is the truth -- and filtering out facts is betraying the public that has turned to the media for information. – Thomas Sowell
Finally, a Principled Principal! And in a Public School Even! By Mike Minton Leave it up to a California High School principal to make a liberal ruling on the flag, right? WRONG! Take heart, my fellow Americans. For, even in Academia, there still seems to be a struggling band of conservatives…even in California! Yes, they are small and struggling, but they are also bold and determined! (click to read more)
Venezuela is currently giving us a lesson on the consequences of price controls. The government of leftist President Hugo Chavez has imposed price controls -- and seems to be surprised that lower prices have lead to reduced supplies, even though price controls have led to reduced supplies in countries around the world and for thousands of years. – Thomas Sowell

Why are people who favor compulsion called humanitarians, while those who favor freedom are stigmatized as greedy? – John Stossel The average American worker toils from January 1st to the end of April, and has no legal claim to the fruits of his labor for that period…. As in slavery, one person is being forcibly used to serve the purposes of another person. – Walter Williams "Where liberty dwells, there is my country." -- Benjamin Franklin
