Money spent on
Water Company Condemnation in Lexington KY

This information
is in from the Coalition Against a Government Takeover found at
www.notakeover.com. Warren Rogers, Lyndi Allison, and other fine people over
there are doing a great job of exposing the waste that is rampant in downtown
Lexington's LFUCG offices. I got to meet Lyndi and Warren at the Freedom Fest at
the Red Mile last weekend and I can tell you they are fine people. To those of
you that missed the event, you missed a good one for a good cause - FREEDOM!
All Lexingtonians
need to be aware of where their tax dollars are going or not going. The
Coalition Against a Government Takeover is a good organization that will not sit
still while the Marxists now in power at the LFUCG continue to tax and spend.
What I find most
inetresting in this communique, is the FACT that Mayor Isaac promised to open
the books on the money spent for this unconstitutional, and what I would define
as a marxist takeover of a privately owned company and good corporate citizen on
July 15th of this year, and has yet to do so. Hmm. As Sergeant Shultz of Hogan's
Heroes fame would say, "Verrrrrrry Interestink."
Also no payments
in the spreadsheet to the legal counsel? Hmm. Show me a lawyer that works for
free, and I will show you a democrat that wants to reduce your tax burden by
shrinking government!

More Information
on Money Spent on Condemnation
Raftelis' Paid $20,000 More Than Reported
4 Months of Legal Fees Outstanding Members of the Coalition were able to look
today at the spreadsheet provided by Donna Counts, the finance commissioner for
Mayor Teresa Isaac, concerning condemnation costs to date for the takeover of
the water company. Here are a few highlights.
* The total is for $379,323.74.
The spreadsheet
does not show any
payments to the government's lead legal counsel,
Frost, Brown & Todd of Louisville, since May 23.
A conservative estimate of the legal fees outstanding is between
$100,000 and $130,000, based on the amount of legal services needed since nine
members of Council voted to condemn the water company on July 1.
*
George Raftelis, who provided the financial analysis on which the government
made its decision to condemn, has been paid $149,314.23. That is $20,000 more
than has been reported to date.
If you remember, Mr. Raftelis was paid roughly $108,000 for his initial study,
a study that most concede was badly flawed and underestimated the value of the
water company. He then billed another $21,000 to answer questions from
members of Council prior to the condemnation vote. As it turns out, he was paid
an additional $20,000 for other work that has not been reported.
* Mr. Bill Musson (SP), another Louisville attorney who serves as
bond
counsel for the Mayor, is not shown anywhere on the spreadsheet.
As was said yesterday in Council meeting, "Maybe he is working for free."
* The Patterson School for Diplomacy at UK was paid $3,000. We believe this was
from training provided Mayor Isaac as she prepared to go to Essen, Germany to
meet with RWE officials. You will recall that
the Mayor said she was going to Essen to talk to RWE, despite assurances that
the water company was more than willing to have full decision-making power
available to her at 2300 Richmond Road in Lexington. She was encouraged to go by
District 12 Council member Gloria Martin. After spending $3,000 of our tax
dollars to be trained, the Mayor decided not to go.
* Lexington attorney
Mary Ann Delaney, a former LFUCG law commissioner, has been paid $41,756.80.
As WLAP's Dave Baker continues to point out,
the Mayor has not
followed through on her promise of July 15 to establish a tracking code so that
citizens can monitor the amount of money being spent.
It is very easy to see that expenses have to be at or beyond a half million
dollars and the case has yet to get to court.
The nine members of Council, led by Mayor Isaac, who voted to condemn are: Al
Mitchell, Chuck Ellinger Jr, Jennifer Mossotti, Gloria Martin, Paul Brooks,
Linda Gorton, Sandy Shaffer, Dr. David Stevens and Dick DeCamp.
Spread this news around to your friends and family members. What is
going on with condemnation and other issues bad for Lexington's future
need to be discussed. Thank you .
