It provides *very* detailed information on farm subsidies—by individual and by program. Wow!!!

Also, it was good to see TV pundit Sam Donaldson get back on the dole last year. He’s pocketed $84,752 in wool, mohair and “sheep meat” subsidies since 1995. Baa Baa to you!

And I was alarmed to find out that my namesake got $366 in livestock subsidies in 1999!

In total, farm subsidies from the USDA were $114 billion from 1995-2002-- $1560 from the average family of four, and most of it to large (vs. family) farms. (Note: This does not include the implications of trade restrictions on the price of farm products.) One of my all-time favorite stats is the two years in the mid-1980s when farm subsidies exceeded farm income. Anyway…Enjoy! Eric
